Broadcom Expands C-DOCSIS® Adoption with Chinese OEMs, ODMs, and Cable Operators


SumaVision and ZTE Leverage C-DOCSIS Architecture to Provide Fast, Reliable and Interactive Television, Internet and Telecommunication Services

Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced that two top Chinese equipment manufacturers - SumaVision and ZTE - have adopted Broadcom's C-Data over Cable Interface Standard (C-DOCSIS) Ethernet over Coax (EoC) technology to design products supporting converged services for Internet, television and telecommunications in China. Broadcom and these leading OEMs will demonstrate their new home networking products at the 2013 China Content Broadcasting Network (CCBN) Exhibition in Beijing from March 21-23, 2013. Broadcom's C-DOCSIS EoC cable TV architecture is a complete chipset and software solution that includes Coax Media Converter (CMC), DOCSIS 2.0 & 3.0 cable modem, and set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) devices. Chinese OEMs are developing products leveraging this turnkey hardware and software package for products that can support a broadband speed of 1 Gbps.



C-DOCSIS EoC cable TV architecture is also paving the way for Chinese operators to provide reliable, fast and interactive triple play network for end users. Among the Chinese operators that have already begun mass deployment of C-DOCSIS EoC terminal products are Zhejiang Wasu Digital TV Media Group, Jiangsu Broadcasting Cable Information Network Corporation Limited Nanjing Branch, Jiangsu Kunshan Information Hub Network Technology Co., Ltd. and Inner Mongolia Radio & TV Network Co., Ltd.

Product Details

SumaVision/TopVision's CC8800 series product is the first C-DOCSIS product certified by the wired institute of SARFT, which has been commercially used in several provincial and municipal wired network companies. CC8800 series products provide 800Mbps downlink rate, 160Mbps uplink rate, and support 64-channel 10Mbps bitrate IPTV service, VoD signaling, Internet data, voice communication, video communication.



ZTE's ZXA10 EC9026 is an outdoor C-DOCSIS EoC product that supports multi-services, such as Internet, VoD and VoIP, for home users with up to 800Mbps bandwidth (16 DS CHs bonding) and GE/GPON/EPON/10GEPON uplink options.  The major benefits of the product include suitability for legacy networks, optimal deployments, simplified maintenance and easy network management.



Availability

Broadcom's C-DOCSIS solutions are currently in volume production.
