Earning recognition in the Industrial/Engine category, lawn and garden equipment dealers declared the 950 and 750 Series' engines a "winner" for their ability to perform during harsh winter months, particularly starting capabilities down to -20 degrees Fahrenheit.

"Our snow engines are designed specifically for the application," said J.P. Benjamins, consumer engine marketing manager with Briggs & Stratton. "Using a dedicated snow facility in Bessemer, Michigan, our engine experts test the equipment to ensure they perform in the harshest of winter conditions. Plus, our team even travels the lengths of South America to find snow when it's summer here. With all of our engines, we take thorough measures to assure performance in a variety of conditions."

Several other engine features helped dealers finalize their decision, including:

    -  Power - ability to cut through heavy, wet snow

    -  Reliability - a Magnetron electronic ignition and freeze-resistant

recoil starter for quick and constant start-ups

    -  Convenience - features such as mitt-grip handles allow for easy use

with mittens or gloves, and a large fuel tank for extended running time

The 750 and 950 Series' are part of a full snow blower engine line designed by Briggs & Stratton. The 750 Series engine will be available on Murray snow blowers sold at Walmart, as well as Simplicity and Snapper snow blowers sold at power equipment dealers. The Polar Force, which is based on the 950 Series, will be available on Ariens snow blowers sold at Home Depot and various other power equipment dealers.
