Bosch Acquires TeleAlarm Group


The Bosch Group has acquired the TeleAlarm Group based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

The contract was signed on September 29, 2006. It was agreed that the purchase price would remain undisclosed.

The TeleAlarm Group is a leading European provider of social alarm and nurse call systems. These products are primarily installed in the homes of people being cared for, in retirement and care homes, in sheltered accommodation facilities and hospitals. In 2005, the company achieved sales of EUR 10 million with a workforce of around 70.

The TeleAlarm Group carries out the bulk of its production in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland and has sales offices in Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

"Acquiring TeleAlarm has allowed us to strengthen our product range of social alarm systems. At the same time, we are expanding our product portfolio to include nurse call systems," said Uwe Glock, head of the Security Systems division. 6750 associates at Bosch Security Systems helped the company to achieve sales of around EUR 1 billion in 2005. The portfolio includes intrusion and fire alarm systems, video surveillance, access control and communication systems. The division is represented in more than 40 locations throughout Europe, America and Asia.

On September 1, 2006, Bosch also acquired Telex Communications Holdings Inc., Minneapolis/USA, a leading provider of electro acoustic systems. In fiscal 2005, Telex Communications made sales of around USD 308 million with a workforce of around 2000.
