Borton-Lawson Recognizes Silver Anniversary

Firm to host internal and external events throughout the year to commemorate achievement

WILKES-BARRE, PA – Borton-Lawson, a full-service architectural and engineering design firm founded and headquartered in Wilkes-Barre, PA, marks a major milestone this year, celebrating its 25th anniversary.

What began as Borton Engineering Associates, Inc., a two-man engineering firm, employing Christopher L. Borton, PE and Thomas E. Lawson, PE, PLS, has blossomed into a Top 500 firm with 16 stockholders. The Borton-Lawson team now tackles projects involving bridges, highways, flood control, office buildings, power plants, oil and gas, hospitals and health clinics, schools and universities, parks, traffic control and energy audits.

The legal name of the firm changed to Borton-Lawson Engineering, Inc. in 1992, and in 2000, Borton-Lawson expanded geographically, opening an office in the Lehigh Valley. Since, the firm has continued to grow, establishing office locations in State College and Pittsburgh.

Christopher Borton and Thomas Lawson are among the six employees who joined Borton-Lawson during the first year; all six are still with the firm.

“The evolution of technology has dramatically changed the engineering industry in the last 25 years; clients are much more focused on energy efficiency, innovative design and reduced construction costs. Therefore, they want a firm that will consistently deliver,” stated Christopher Borton, PE, CEO, Borton-Lawson. “Our dedicated professionals provide clients with the sought after value-based solutions, while reducing costs on each project. The dedication of our people has played a lead role in Borton-Lawson’s 25 years of success,” said Borton.

“Our success is made possible by loyal clients and our team of professionals who are dedicated to quality, on-time project delivery,” stated Frank Joanlanne, President. In 2011, Joanlanne became a member of the firm’s Board of Directors and accepted the position of President of Borton-Lawson in April 2012.

Internal and external events will be held throughout the year to commemorate Borton-Lawson’s 25th anniversary as a “thank you” to those who have made this success a reality.
