Borealis Polyolefine Specialist to Disclose Polypropylene Innovations in Plenary Address at SPE Polyolefins Conference

NEWTOWN, CT, U.S.A., - New advances in polypropylene polymerization technology and resin development will be the topic of a plenary address by Dr. Michel Daumerie of Borealis Polyolefine GmbH at the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) 23rd International Polyolefins Conference next week.

The Conference will take place in Houston, Texas, February 27- March 2, 2011. The Borealis Polyolefine presentation will be made on Monday, February 28. Dr. Daumerie is polyolefin R&D director for Borealis Polyolefine.

Titled "Value Added Innovation in PP: Satisfying long term need," the presentation will outline these innovations:

  • The company's Borstar® polymerization process and its capabilities for developing new PP resins.

  • Five PP product groups, including BorPure(TM) (improved organoleptic properties and low extractables); Borclear(TM) (high transparency and sterilization resistance); Borseal(TM) (low seal initiation temperature and broad sealing range); Borpact(TM) ethylene-propylene interpolymers (toughness and transparency); and Borsoft(TM) random heterophasic copolymers (extreme softness).

  • Developing new packaging solutions with polypropylene.

  • Developing ways to advance sustainability in short-lived polymer applications.

Produced by the South Texas Section of SPE, the 2011 International Polyolefins Conference will be co-sponsored by SPE's Flexible Packaging, Polymer Modifiers and Additives, and Thermoplastic Materials and Foams Divisions.
