EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Bluestar Silicones North America has selected Unipex Solutions Canada, Boucherville, Quebec, a commercial unit of the Unipex Group, as the authorized distributor of Mirasil® silicones for the personal care industry in Canada. Unipex has been named the Canadian distributor for the core group of Mirasil silicone grades including performance blends like high-molecular weight gums in carriers such as cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone.
The new partnership extends Bluestar Silicones' existing relationship with Unipex in Europe and takes advantage of their strong technical expertise, according to Mark Neuber, business director of core fluids and elastomers for Bluestar Silicones. "This agreement is a very important part of our strategy to reach personal care formulators," explained Neuber. "We've also renewed our focus on distribution as a key market channel by partnering with companies like Unipex who can deliver the full breadth of ingredients for personal care formulators and toll manufacturers."

Neuber added that the agreement is a key part of Bluestar Silicones' overall growth strategy targeted at several industries including personal care, along with expanded production in the U.S. At the same time, the company expects the new supply channel will help to boost growth for Mirasil silicones in North America.
Mirasil silicone products are targeted for the personal care market and are specially formulated for purity and safety, as well as performance for hair care, skin care, and antiperspirants and deodorants. Mirasil silicones provide a smooth dry feel to skin preparation with good durability and water repellency, easy to comb wet hair, while also providing dry hair with conditioning, softening, and shine.
