Blue Coat Systems Achieves ISO 14001 Certification from TUV SUD America

Peabody, Massachusetts. TUV SUD America Inc. is pleased to announce that Blue Coat Systems, Inc. has been awarded certification to ISO 14001.

Two years ago, the company, which is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, implemented a corporate environmental/sustainability program called BluePlanet. This initiative was tasked with reducing the Blue Coat's environmental impact, increasing organizational efficiencies, and ensuring the sustainability of the company's operation, products, and services. Certification to ISO 14001 complemented this effort by providing a formal framework for the company to continuously improve its processes and the management of its environmental programs.

According to Mr. Paris Dieker, Environmental Regulatory Engineer at Blue Coat Systems, "Our TUV SUD auditor provided us with very constructive feedback in some areas on how we can improve certain processes to better achieve our goals and objectives." Mr. Jorge Correa, Management Services West Regional Manager at TUV SUD America, adds "the ISO 14001 certification is an integral part of Blue Coat System's commitment of being a good steward of the environment."

About ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized environmental management system standard, similar in structure to the ISO 9001 quality management system standard. ISO 14001 outlines several key requirements to which companies should comply in order to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. The five major elements of the environmental management system requirements are Environmental Policy, Planning, Implementation and Operations, Checking and Corrective Action, and Management Review.
