Cassatt Joins BladeLogic Data Center Alliance Program; Companies Team to Enable Life Cycle Automation of Enterprise Data Centers to Drive Value, Agility, and Reliability

ORLANDO, Fla., June 11 -- Gartner Infrastructure, Operations & Management Summit - CassattŪ Corporation, a provider of software to run IT as a utility, today announced a technology and business partnership with BladeLogic, Inc., a leading provider of data center automation software, that will provide enterprise customers an integrated solution to advance utility computing.

As part of this partnership, Cassatt and BladeLogic are integrating their software suites to connect how customers manage software configurations and how they allocate resources on-demand in their data centers. The resulting solution is designed to increase capital efficiency and administrator productivity while decreasing operational costs and improving reliability, key aspects of running IT as a utility.

Cassatt also announced that it has joined BladeLogic's Data Center Alliance Program, which allows BladeLogic partners an easy, yet powerful way to integrate their solutions with the BladeLogic data center automation software suite.

The two companies are teaming in key customer engagements in order to provide a combined solution that delivers utility computing throughout the life cycle of today's enterprise data center operations.

Benefits of a Joint BladeLogic-Cassatt Solution

By integrating BladeLogic's data center automation software solutions with Cassatt's utility computing software and services solutions, large enterprises can create an actionable library of software models and configurations, which can be used to automate daily configuration change and compliance tasks, as well support on-the-fly provisioning of hardware and software resources based on operational policies and business demand.

Together BladeLogic and Cassatt will provide a rich utility computing solution for improving IT operations in the data center:

o BladeLogic's software discovers and creates an actionable catalog of live services based on software configurations across physical and virtual servers and applications. Those services are then used by the software to automate configuration management tasks such as inventory, compliance, remediation, patch management, and provisioning. o The Cassatt Collage(TM) software automatically discovers and pools all hardware and software resources (physical and virtual servers, application servers, BladeLogic configuration catalogs, and network resources) and dynamically allocates these IT resources according to business policies as demand on applications ebbs and flows.

"BladeLogic's leading data center automation solution is a great complement to the dynamic resource allocation capabilities of Cassatt Collage," said Gamiel Gran, vice president of channels and alliances for Cassatt. "This unique combination provides IT organizations help in optimizing the use of IT resources across the enterprise - improving service levels and lowering costs without disruption to existing systems."

Vance Loiselle, vice president of marketing for BladeLogic, said, "We are very pleased to partner with Cassatt and add them to our Data Center Alliance program. Our two companies offer complementary technologies that, together, address two key pieces of the utility computing puzzle: the ability to automate the configuration management of physical and virtual infrastructures across large heterogeneous data centers, and the need to flexibly allocate compute resources based on application demands."

How the BladeLogic and Cassatt Software Works Together

Customers can begin with either technology - or both. Through the BladeLogic solution, customers can handle discovery, modeling, and configuration of software stacks. Through the Cassatt solution, customers can define application service-level policies, and then have the software automatically allocate or retire hardware and software to maintain these policies, using BladeLogic-defined software stacks as a "golden master." BladeLogic can manage software stack configuration changes, while the Cassatt software responds to capacity or fault events within the infrastructure.
