Bishop-Wisecarver Earns Woman-Owned Business Certification

Linear Motion Technology Manufacturer is a WBENC-Certified Women's Business Enterprise

Pittsburg, CA -- July 13, 2011 -- Bishop-Wisecarver Corporation, manufacturer of the original DualVee® guide wheel and industry leader in guided motion technology, announced today that the company has received national certification as a Women's Business Enterprise by the Astra Women's Business Alliance, a regional certifying partner of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council.

"I am really excited to become certified as a woman-owned business since there are very few of us in our industry, especially within linear motion and power transmission," said Pamela Kan, president of Bishop-Wisecarver. "I think it is exciting to see that women can own and operate these types of businesses, and it's the start of a new chapter in American history where manufacturing and innovation are led by female entrepreneurs."

WBENC's national standard of certification implemented by the Astra Women's Business Alliance is a meticulous process which includes an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.

"I am very impressed with the process," said Kan. "It was extremely thorough and rigorous because ASTRA and WBENC made sure that the certification stands for all it is meant to represent."

By including women-owned businesses among their vendors, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier/vendor diversity programs.
