Bishop-Wisecarver Corporation Founder Goes on Air with Story of Innovation, Success

Pittsburg, CA - - September 20, 2007 - - Bud Wisecarver, founder of Bishop-Wisecarver Corporation, recently discussed his role as an innovator with Mike Hambrick, host of "America's Business," the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) weekly, one-hour radio show. The show featuring Mr. Wisecarver aired September 14 and 15. Podcast and vodcast versions of the show can be found on the NAM web site at www.AmericasBusiness.org. Hambrick spoke to Mr. Wisecarver for the segment that showcases innovation and creativity in manufacturing. Mr. Wisecarver described his company's high speed linear motion systems and how they are used to move machinery back and forth. He traced the company's roots back to 1950, and talked about how he designed and hand-built production equipment for the Bishop-Wisecarver Corporation plant in Pittsburg, CA. He attributed his staying power in small business to his ability to innovate machinery that creates products.

"Everything, it doesn't matter what it is, starts with a toolmaker," Mr. Wisecarver recently said. "Without the toolmakers, you don't have anything."

On the air for more than a year, "America's Business" highlights the issues that manufacturers face on a daily basis, says J.P. Fielder, senior director of media relations at NAM. The show covers everything from politics and innovation to litigation and legislation, and is aired over 80 times each weekend on 65 radio stations nationwide. Since August 2006, more than 300,000 downloads of the show's podcast have been recorded, according to NAM.

"'America's Business' highlights the issues and needs of manufacturing, which is the driving force of America's economy," says Matthew Preiss, the show's associate producer. "It also keeps listeners up to date on important policy and legislation that affect all Americans."

The September 15 show also featured Woody Sutton, the newly confirmed Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Manufacturing. Other regular segments include "The Way it Was," with NAM's Hank Cox and "The Soapbox."
