Birthday Wishes and Universal Plastics Announce New Corporate Partnership in Western MA

Newton, MA  – Birthday Wishes brings birthday parties to homeless children, believing that all children, regardless of their living situation, should celebrate their birthdays joyfully, surrounded by family, friends and others who care.

Founded in 2002 as a volunteer organization serving one Boston shelter, Birthday Wishes presently reaches homeless children living in more than 200 shelters and transitional living facilities in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Long Island, NY.

“I could not be more pleased with our new partnership with Universal Plastics,” commented Lisa Vasiloff, Birthday Wishes cofounder and executive director. “The caring culture of the company and its employees in Holyoke, MA make it a perfect partner for our corporate adopt-a-shelter program, and will serve the children living in Holyoke’s A Family Place beautifully.”

Universal Plastics has made a donation to Birthday Wishes to directly support the costs for one year of monthly birthday parties at A Family Place. Additionally, the company will coordinate and provide volunteers to help run the parties and is exploring additional ways it might engage its employees in the Birthday Wishes program.

“At Universal Plastics, making meaningful contributions to the local communities we live and work in is a fundamental part of our company culture”, said President, Jay Kumar. “Alongside manufacturing workforce development, serving our local communities and encouraging our employees to do the same are the traditions Joe Peters, the previous co-owner, has set up at Universal Plastics, which we continue to do.”
