ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 6 /- Bio-Optronics announced today it would unveil a handheld PDA version of AdministratOR, the company's bar-coded medication administration solution at this year's HIMSS conference in New Orleans. Hand Held Products of Skaneateles, NY is partnering with Bio-Optronics to provide a bundled point of care solution to the midsize hospital and long-term care market. The two companies will join forces to demonstrate the application at the healthcare IT conference on Hand Held Products compact and durable handheld devices, the DolphinŽ 7600, 7900 and 9500 Mobile Computers.
AdministratOR is a cost-effective bar-coded point of care solution which ensures that mid-size hospitals and long-term care facilities can afford to comply with the "5 Rights of Patient Safety," which states that the right patient receives the right drug, at the right time, in the right dosage and in the right form. Ensuring the "5 Rights" prevents costly and potentially fatal adverse drug events in the healthcare environment. AdministratOR customers can now select from several platforms to best suit their needs: tablet computers, laptops on medication carts, or the new handheld module, which will premiere at the conference. In addition, AdministratOR's handheld version enables point of care providers to track specimen collection and vital sign monitoring.
"In developing the handheld application, we were concerned about usability. We wanted to ensure that nurses without perfect vision or experience using PDAs could still master the application," said Jeremy Reitz, Bio-Optronics' Director of Development and Architecture. "We were successful. The AdministratOR handheld module contains the same trademark usability found in the tablet version," Reitz added.
Bio-Optronics will demonstrate the AdministratOR handheld software in the Hand Held Products booth, #2863, at the HIMSS Conference in New Orleans from February 25th to March 1st.
