Eaton Leonard Tooling, Inc. (ELT) was featured on the front cover of the May, 2009 issue of the Undercar Digest magazine. The article focused on ELT's new product offering; the Bend-it, an economical CNC tube bending machine.
The Bend-it was first developed by Eaton Leonard Corporation back in the late 70's, early eighties. It was expected that this product would revolutionize the after market exhaust industry. Unfortunately when the car makers introduced the stainless exhaust systems, the after market exhaust and muffler shops future would be changed dramatically. Instead of an exhaust system last for only 2 - 3 years, especially in the areas that salt is used to keep the snow and ice off the road, an exhaust system on a new car today is expected to last the life of the car.
Today there is another opportunity being presented to the exhaust aftermarket, which is the classic and muscle cars that are being restored. This new market will generate a great opportunity to these shops that take advantage of the Bend-it's capabilities.
The Bend-it machine will bend exhaust pipes that previously were only available via specialized manufacturers. These manufacturers charge substantial amounts and often their products weren't designed all that well.
