Post and Sister Publication Recognize Gains in Advertiser and Reader Satisfaction with Overall Print Quality Improvements.

Mortsel, Belgium December 19, 2007 16:00

Agfa Graphics announced today that The Post Publishing Public Company Limited of Bangkok, Thailand, responsible for both the English-language Bangkok Post and its Thai-language companion, The Post Today, has installed two Agfa Polaris violet-laser Computer-to-Plate imaging systems along with Sublima cross-modulated screening technology. These solutions have enabled both daily newspapers to increase production and quality levels.

The Bangkok Post, published since 1945, is the oldest newspaper in Thailand and is well respected throughout Asia. In addition to the English and Thai versions of the daily newspaper, the company also publishes a "Student Weekly" newspaper. A new printing and distribution centre was opened by The Post Publishing Public Company in November 2007.

"Our recent short-term goals have included raising our customer satisfaction levels in terms of print quality and on-time delivery-and that includes readers and advertisers alike," said Lersak Jaturapol of the Post Publishing Public Company. "We chose a Polaris system because of its speed and the reputation of its violet technology, and a Sublima system because of its print contrast and the fine picture details it provides."

Agfa's Polaris CtP portfolio is designed to meet the automation and speed requirements of busy newspaper production departments, providing high speed and the ability to image multiple resolutions throughout one production run.

Sublima is the world's most advanced screening option. Its cross-modulated (XM) technology is designed to dramatically improve print quality with no extra effort on press. It holds a 1-99% dot at higher frequencies and captures the finest details and most vibrant colors. "The Bangkok Post and The Post Today have a very large following of loyal readers, and the most extensive home delivery system of newspapers throughout Thailand. We are pleased that the management of The Post Publishing Public Company saw the value of committing to Agfa CtP and screening solutions for their newspaper production," said Tim Van den Bossche, Agfa Graphics, Regional President, Asia. "We are honoured that our technology is represented so significantly in their new modern facility in Bangkok."
