Balluff's new RFID system provides economical data tracking for continuously moving applications

FLORENCE, KY (June 2006) - Balluff has expanded its line of RFID systems to include a new inexpensive line that provides fast, economical on-the-fly industrial data tracking. The BIS M system is specifically designed for continuously moving applications requiring large amounts of industrial data carriers, and operates at an industry-standard 13.56 MHz frequency. To provide greater flexibility and keep cost to a minimum, the BIS M system uses four types of economical data carriers that handle a wide range of logistics and automation data tracking applications involving pallets, totes, or containers.

The BIS M system consists of a choice of three read/write heads, including M18 and M30 barrel type, rugged industrial remote processors available in plastic or metal compatible with Interbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP or Modbus TCP interfaces, plus the four types of data carriers. To handle continuously moving applications, the BIS M system reads 64 bytes of data in 70 ms at a velocity of 76 m/min and writes 64 bytes in 200 ms at a velocity of 30 m/min.
