WASHINGTON--Global competition in the industrial biotechnology sector is driving robust growth of the biobased economy. The Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology will explore new market and investment opportunities for biofuels and renewable chemicals through a robust plenary discussion. The conference will be held May 12-15, 2014, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

“Many countries are competing to deploy industrial biotechnology as a way to boost economic growth, use efficient energy, and leverage natural resources,” said Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section. “BIO’s 2014 World Congress’ breakout program and plenary session provides attendees with new perspectives and prospects on international markets that can help grow our industry.”
BIO’s plenary, “New Markets and Opportunities for Biofuels Investment,” on Wednesday, May 14, 8:00am–10:00am, will take an analytical look into promising and favorable investment opportunities to be obtained within the biofuels sector.
