BIO Welcomes Confirmation of Gina McCarthy as EPA Administrator

WASHINGTON -- The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) today congratulated Gina McCarthy on winning Senate confirmation for the post of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator.

BIO President & CEO Jim Greenwood said, “The EPA has long been a supporter of biotechnology as a solution to climate and pollution challenges and as an enabling technology for advanced biofuels and green chemistry. The EPA’s consistent administration of America’s Renewable Fuel Standard has been a key driver of the development of advanced biofuels. The RFS works, and it is one of the few policies on the books today that addresses climate change. We look forward to working with Administrator McCarthy to continue ensuring that federal policies clear a path for the continued development of such innovative technologies.”
