Showcases Vibrant and Growing Indian Biotech Industry to Global Leaders BIO - producer of the BIO International Convention - is hosting the inaugural event to encourage networking and collaborations between Indian biotech, the global biotech industry

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) will be hosting the first-ever BIO India International Partnering Conference in Hyderabad, India on September 21-22. BIO India will bring together biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from North America, Europe and Asia to meet and explore business opportunities with India's emerging biotech sector.

"Together with ABLE, we are thrilled to be hosting the BIO India International Partnering Conference and sharing our experience and expertise in organizing successful partnering meetings around the world with India," said Alan Eisenberg, BIO's Executive Vice President of Emerging Companies and Business Development. "The two-day BIO India conference will feature the same world-class panels, presentations and business development opportunities that have made our other events premier destinations for networking and partnering activity."

"As a member of the BIO India Advisory Committee, I believe it is only befitting that India will be hosting this important Bio-partnering event annually. Indian companies have the potential of being strong development partners in drug innovation. I am confident that this event will lead to increased collaborations and deal making across the biotech industry in India and globally," said Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairman & Managing Director, Biocon, Ltd. "BIO India provides the Indian biotech industry with an international platform to promote its assets and capabilities to global biotech and pharmaceutical companies as well as to investors and other financial stakeholders."

Presentations by top Indian, U.S. and European biotech companies with clear innovation-led R&D programs will anchor the event. Indian companies chosen to present their research and capabilities to the conference's international audience include Aurigene Discovery Technologies, Connexios Life Sciences, Incozen Therapeutics, Mitra Biotech Pvt Ltd., and many more.

Partnering allows biotech companies to connect with big pharma companies, venture capitalists and bankers, and service providers from around the globe. Delegates from attending companies can schedule face-to-face meetings through BIO's Partnering System. The system allows companies to create profiles, view other companies' profiles and research areas, and request partnering meetings for mutually available timeslots during the conference.

The BIO India program features plenary sessions on unique deal structures and financing innovations in India, as well as an IP panel focusing on technology transfer. Featured speakers include M.K. Bhan, MBBS, MD, the Secretary of India's Department of Biotechnology, Samir K. Brahmachari, Director General of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, and Jeremy Levin, MD, PhD, Senior Vice President of Strategy: Alliances and Transactions at Bristol Myers Squibb.

The India-U.S. Life Sciences Working Group will be holding a meeting on-site September 20-21, focusing on regulatory cooperation between the two countries and on the approval of biologics in India. BIO is hosting its own CEO delegation tour that bookends the conference with visits to Indian biotechnology companies in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

BIO brings to India more than ten years of experience and expertise in biotech and pharmaceutical partnering. BIO is renowned for its successful partnering meetings in the U.S., Japan and Germany, including the biotech world's largest partnering event, the Business Forum, at the BIO International Convention.
