More than 90 international public officials from 18 countries and European Union will attend, including Brazil, Czech Republic, Israel, Spain, and Poland. Program, with 170 sessions in 22 breakout session tracks, will cover estimated 176,000 net sq ft, hosting over 1,800 exhibitors.

2009 BIO International Convention to Host US Governors, International Public Officials
ATLANTA, GA (Monday, May 18, 2009) - The 2009 BIO International Convention will play host to a number of domestic and international public officials. Hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) the global event for biotechnology will take place May 18-21, 2009, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
"We are thrilled to welcome so many prominent governors to our Convention," said Patrick Kelly, vice president for State Government Relations at BIO. "These policy leaders recognize the vital contributions our industry is making to states across the nation. They recognize that biotechnology means high-wage, high-value jobs. They recognize that biotechnology means economic growth. And they recognize that biotechnology means establishing their state as a global leader in scientific innovation."

"We have seen an increased level of international participation for this year's event, including first time attendance for public officials from Brazil, the Czech Republic, Israel, Spain, and Poland, who also has a pavilion for the first time this year," said Robbi Lycett, vice president, Conventions and Conferences at BIO.
Each year, the BIO International Convention draws industry leaders from approximately 48 states and 60 countries. This year, the Convention program will feature 170 sessions in 22 breakout session tracks. Sessions will address the most pressing issues facing biotech today, including healthcare pricing and access, capital formation and partnering strategies in a tight credit environment, and climate change and biofuels.
In addition, this year's BIO Exhibition will cover will cover an estimated 176,000 net sq. ft. and host more than 1,800 exhibitors.
