WASHINGTON, D.C. (Thursday, February 26, 2009) - Committed to the challenges our current economic business climate presents, the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) is investing more resources and added a strategic partner for the seventh annual BIO Career Fair.

The BIO Career Fair will take place on Monday, May 18, 2009, 2-7 pm, in the Thomas Murphy Ballroom at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga. in conjunction with the 2009 BIO International Convention - the global event for biotechnology. The BIO Career Fair will feature more than 50 potential employers representing biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, food and agriculture, consumer products, biopreparedness, and energy, among other fields.

The BIO Career Fair is hosted by BioSpace and the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), as well as local state associations Georgia Bio and Southeast Bio.

"The BIO Career Fair provides a venue for job seekers and recruiters to make valuable connections, which are so important for our industry and is just one of the valuable activities of the 2009 BIO International Convention," said Robbi Lycett, vice president of Conventions & Conferences. "Resume postings are free of charge and while face-to-face interactions are encouraged, candidates are not required to be present to post."

The BIO Career Fair is free of charge and provides a unique, one-day opportunity for job seekers to meet and network with international organizations in the life sciences sector.

AAPS, BIO, and BIOCOM hosted the 2008 Career Fair together in San Diego.

Job seekers are able to upload their resumes in advance to avoid any registration lines for the Career Fair. Employers can post job listings and find information on booth space and sponsorships at www.biocareerfair.org.

"We are pleased to have BioSpace as our career fair partner because of their expertise and proprietary online Career Network built on the BioSpace.com technology platform. The platform enables event registrations to apply for jobs even if they are not present at the fair. The partnership also provides to the BIO Career Fair BioSpace's expansive marketing reach to over 400,000 life science professionals within their exclusive candidate database," stated Margaret Core, director, sales and marketing, in BIO's Convention and Conferences department.

Candidates will have the opportunity to meet with recruiters from many of the largest biotech companies. Industry professionals and students will be able to interview for open positions, listen in to free educational seminars and network with recruiters to discuss possible career options and requirements. Admission is free to job seekers with a four-year life sciences degree or a life-science community college degree.

In addition to visiting the employer booths, pre-registered job seekers can attend a free, two part workshop titled "Strategic Job Searching: Recession Proof Your Career." The session will take place Monday, May 18, 2009 at 12pm and 12:45pm in the Georgia World Congress Center B Building Room B408. This session will focus on how to conduct a strategic job search that leverages both your skills and your network to achieve your career goals. Attendees will also receive "inside" information from biotech HR managers on hand to tell you what they are looking for in the backgrounds of potential applicants.

BioSpace has produced over 200 life science career fairs over the past 11 years and will power the BIO Career Fair by providing event management, a proprietary technology platform for the online Career Network, marketing initiatives to its database of 400,000 life science professionals, and direct sales efforts to sponsors and exhibitors.
