BIO Announces Business Forum Company Presentations at the 2010 BIO International Convention

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announced the Business Forum company presentations to take place at the 2010 BIO International Convention. The global event for biotechnology will be held May 3-6 in Chicago, Ill. at McCormick Place.

Company presentations will provide valuable insight to the stories, pipelines, and partnering objectives of participating domestic and international companies in 35 different therapeutic and industry tracks, including leading biotechnology & pharmaceutical companies, oncology, cardiology, CNS/neurology, diagnostics, gene/cell therapy, infectious diseases and immunology.

"Currently, we have more than 130 companies scheduled to present at the BIO Business Forum, more than 40 percent of which are international," said Alan Eisenberg, Executive Vice President of Emerging Companies & Business Development at BIO. "Given the current economic climate, collaborations from the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector are more important than ever. These presentations and networking opportunities can lead to future collaborations down the road, resulting in innovations in research, medicines and new technologies."

In addition to company presentations, BIO Business Forum attendees can schedule one-on-one meetings using BIO One-on-One Partnering(TM) and discuss potential business opportunities through numerous formal and informal networking opportunities. BIO currently expects more than 14,000 meetings among biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and investors from around the world. Many companies, including sanofi pasteur, have initiated partnerships after attending the BIO Business Forum.

"This event is a very important component of sanofi pasteur's partnering efforts," said Dr. Allan Jarvis, vice president of corporate development at sanofi pasteur. "This year we expect to be booked solid again in our partnering presentations. We believe that this is a great venue to develop successful partnerships to develop vaccines for global health."

Opportunities are still available for companies interested in presenting at the Business Forum at the 2010 BIO International Convention. Applications will be accepted until April 12, 2010. To request a presentation slot, visit: business-forum.bio.org/bf/2010/presentations/presentationapp.asp.
