* Rui-Artur Goerck named Group Vice President, Mobile Emissions Catalysts
* Dr. Hans-Peter Neumann named Group Vice President, Process Catalysts and Technologies

ISELIN, NJ, January 7, 2010 - BASF has named two veteran company leaders to head key business units within its global Catalysts division.

Rui-Artur Goerck has been appointed Group Vice President, Mobile Emissions Catalysts; and Dr. Hans-Peter Neumann has been appointed Group Vice President, Process Catalysts and Technologies. These appointments are effective immediately.

Goerck joined BASF in 1985 and has held a number of product management and marketing leadership roles in Germany, the United States and Brazil. He most recently served as Group Vice President, Coatings Solutions, South America, BASF S.A., Sao Paulo, Brazil. Prior to that, he headed the team responsible for integrating the South American operations of Cyanamid into BASF.

Goerck holds a degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance and Marketing from Fundacao Armando Alvares Penteado, Sao Paulo.

Neumann has been with BASF for 20 years and has served in leadership roles in research and development, production and business management. He was most recently Group Vice President, Acids & Specialty Intermediates, BASF Europe. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President, BASF Antwerpen N.V./Plant Operations, Engineering & Infrastructure.

Neumann earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany.

Both Neumann and Goerck are based at BASF Catalysts' global headquarters facility in Iselin.
