BASF Appoints New Technical Development Leader for Asphalt Polymers in the Dispersions and Pigments Business


CHARLOTTE, NC, June 24, 2009 - On June 15, 2009, BASF appointed Arlis Kadrmas as Technical Development Leader, Asphalt, in the construction polymers area of the Dispersions and Pigments business in North America.

In his new role, Kadrmas is responsible for technical service to the asphalt industry in North America and provides assistance with new market development efforts.

Kadrmas comes to BASF with a bachelor-of-science degree in chemical engineering and 22 years of asphalt industry experience in a broad range of technical capacities. Kadrmas is an active member of the Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturers Association (AEMA), International Slurry Surfacing Association (ISSA), Transportation Research Board of the National Academies (TRB), and serves as Chairman of the International Technical Committee and subcommittee Chairman of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). The BASF Dispersions and Pigments business in North America includes all-acrylic, styrene-acrylic and styrene-butadiene latex products used in the manufacture or formulation of adhesives, architectural coatings, asphalt, carpet backing, nonwovens, paper and paperboard products, construction mastics, thin sets and adhesives, elastomeric roof coatings, as well as for the modification of asphalt and concrete for greater durability. Major dispersion product lines include Acronal®, Acronal Optive ®, Butonal®, Butofan®, Styronal® and Styrofan®.
