Korenix is pleased to inform its managed networking switches have been implemented and are successfully working in London's Heathrow Airport for monitoring the operation of Ultra PRT's Passenger Transport Systems.
Korenix UK partner, MAC Solutions has won the contract to design a network through integrating Korenix networking Ethernet switches for the transport systems' passenger security and surveillance project.
The project aimed at ensuring secure and real-time video surveillance and monitoring of the Automated "Green" transit cars designed by Ultra PRT, that were to convey passengers between the Business Car Park and Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport. The main requirement was to build a resilient and managed Ethernet network under harsh conditions of outdoor environments.
The JetNet 4706 series PoE switches were used to drive the high power demanding IP cameras, while connecting to the JetNet 5010G switches to communicate the data from encoders and cameras to the control center. Using their 2 out of 3 Gigabit combo ports and featuring MSR network redundancy technology with just 5ms restoration time, the JetNet 5010G switches formed a ring connection together and thus ensured the flexible and highly reliable network communication between the passenger transport systems and the airport monitoring room. In addition, Korenix JetView Pro network management software was used to remotely monitor and manage the whole network.
