PHILADELPHIA--Avery Dennison Printer Systems has been granted blanket purchase agreements (BPAs) for Class 1 RFID printer/encoders by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the company has announced. Previously, Avery Dennison Printer Systems earned BPAs for Class 1 RFID labels and fixed RFID readers.
The DoD's Information Technology, E-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Center issued BPAs to 10 supplier companies, including Avery Dennison Printer Systems, covering Electronic Product Code (EPC) Class 1 96-bit RFID printer/encoders. The BPAs are in effect until June 2007. According to Dan Williams, marketing manager, Avery Dennison Printer Systems, the decision certifies that Avery Dennison Printer Systems has met stringent DoD requirements for prospective suppliers of RFID printer/encoders.
"With this decision, Avery Dennison Printer Systems becomes eligible to supply both RFID printer/encoders and Class 1 RFID labels and RFID readers to DoD purchasers," says Williams. "We now constitute a single source of supply and accountability for a broad range of RFID products."
