Introduces NAS Optimization Enhancements to Boost Performance in Virtualized Environments

SAN FRANCISCO - Avere Systems, the leading provider of NAS Optimization, will demonstrate how its revolutionary FXT Edge filers can be used to build shareable, scalable, VM-aware Flash storage at VMworld 2012 and eliminate the practice of building expensive and isolated 'Flash Islands' throughout the enterprise. It will also be displaying newly introduced FlashRead(TM) and FlashWrite(TM) capabilities for virtualized environments.

Avere will be offering conference attendees scratch-off lottery tickets for an 'Escape from Flash Island' contest, with a chance to win a BIC ACS Stand-Up Paddle Board (valued at over $1,000 MSRP) and other prizes such as gift cards, T-shirts and more.

Both activities will take place at VMworld 2012 in Booth No. 2513 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco August 26-30. Lottery tickets will be available throughout the show during exhibition hours and the grand prize drawing will take place at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 29th.

"In much the same way that we tamed enterprise storage sprawl through the elimination of 'NAS islands,' we are now able to eliminate 'Flash Islands' with highly scalable, highly shareable VM-aware pools of Flash that ensures that applications always have access to the fastest storage media," said Ron Bianchini, President and CEO of Avere Systems. "And the introduction of FlashRead and FlashWrite equips organizations with the most powerful, efficient and flexible storage solutions available to complement their virtualized environments."

FlashRead(TM) and FlashWrite(TM) for Virtualized Environments

FlashRead automatically places hot data blocks on Flash media contained within FXT Series Edge filers to accelerate the performance of read operations. The hottest blocks are then automatically replicated on multiple Edge filers within an FXT Series cluster to provide parallel access and maximum performance for VDI boot storms.

FlashWrite provides unique write acceleration by terminating all write operations on the NVRAM and Flash media contained within FXT Series Edge filers. FlashWrite offloads HDD storage from write-heavy applications such as VMware and provides a cost-effective alternative to deploying shelves of high speed HDDs to handle such workloads. FlashWrite mirrors all write data to multiple filers within an FXT Series cluster to ensure data is highly available. Both FlashRead and FlashWrite are generally available to existing Avere customers as part of AOS 3.0.
