Development Tools Will Enable Smart Card Designers to Quickly Bring Theseus Titanium-Based Products to Market

LIMERICK, Ireland and SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 20 -- SST (Silicon Storage Technology, Inc.), (NASDAQ:SSTI), a leader in flash memory technology, and Ashling Microsystems, today announced the two companies are working in cooperation to produce a range of development tools for SST's Theseus Titanium® smart card devices. Under terms of the agreement, Ashling Microsystems will supply a range of development tools for SST's Theseus Titanium devices including hardware emulators, source-level debug software and software drivers to allow source-level debug from within the Keil uVision environment.

The Theseus Titanium family offers developers an all flash memory-based smart card IC, which includes 100 percent User-Configurable Memory (UCM) and a variety of security features. Being based completely on UCM technology provides developers with greater design flexibility, faster time to market and a higher level of security. To date, SST's Theseus smart card ICs have sold more than 170 million units worldwide. Through this cooperation, Ashling brings its development tool expertise allowing card operating system (COS) developers to seize the time-to-market advantages of Theseus Titanium.

Commenting on the cooperation, John Murphy, managing director of Ashling Microsystems, said, "SST chose Ashling because of our expertise in smart card development tools. Theseus Titanium developers will benefit from our many years of experience supporting the smart card market with best-in-class development tools."

Jack Berg, engineering director for smart card ICs at SST, said, "We are pleased to have Ashling rolling out a range of tools for developments based on our Theseus Titanium device family. We believe this cooperation with Ashling strengthens the growing ecosystem for our smart card IC solutions. These improved tools will allow our customers to efficiently develop higher-end codes, such as Java card operating systems, thus enabling them to quickly bring to market products based on our Theseus Titanium smart card IC."

Ashling and SST expect the development kit for SST's Theseus Titanium smart card ICs to be available in June 2006. For additional information about SST's Theseus Titanium smart card ICs product availability, contact SST at http://www.sst.com/.
