Ashland Inc. Names Foss Corporate Secretary


COVINGTON, Ky. - Linda L. Foss, assistant general counsel, today was named to the additional position of corporate secretary of Ashland Inc. (NYSE:ASH) by a vote of the board of directors. The announcement was made by David L. Hausrath, senior vice president and general counsel.

"Linda has supported the board in her work for several years. This change shows the board's high regard for Linda's counsel and her ongoing contributions to board governance," said Hausrath. Foss will assume responsibility for board communications and administrative matters relating to the board and its meetings.

Foss joined Ashland Inc. in 1979. In 1990, she was promoted to senior attorney, and in 1997 was again promoted to associate counsel. Foss was named senior group counsel in Oct. 1999 and was promoted to assistant general counsel in May 2002.

A native of Newton, Mass., Foss received her Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in 1976. In 1979, she received a Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from Wake Forest University. Foss is a member of the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals, the American Corporate Counsel Association and the Kentucky Bar Association. She has completed Ashland's executive development program at Indiana University.
