Argotec Acquires Polyurethane Film Manufacturer Omniflex LLC

Greenfield, Massachusetts USA - April 15, 2009 - Argotec, Inc., a global leader in the manufacture of custom-engineered, precision-extruded thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film & sheet, announced today it has acquired 100 percent of its joint venture Omniflex LLC and the firm's Transport®, Vacuflex® and Natural Elements(TM) brands.

Omniflex specializes in the production of waterproof-breathable films for use in the performance apparel and footwear markets, thin films for automotive interior fabric laminations and foam-in-place seating, as well as antibacterial and viral barrier films for medical device and wound care applications. The company's apparel and footwear films can also be formulated with antimicrobial technology to create waterproof-breathable, odor-control textile composites with just a single film lamination.

This acquisition will allow Argotec to offer a complete line of specialty film products and support its strategy to build greater dominance in its primary markets and further bolster the company's existing brands. President and CEO, Bruce Wilby, stated, "This will not only open up new opportunities within our core businesses, but will better serve existing Argotec customers by making the broadest range of polyurethane films available under a single corporate umbrella."

"We have shared resources with Argotec since the joint venture was formed in 1994," said Mike Mosher, Argotec's vice president of sales. "It will be a natural transition as Omniflex personnel are blended into the Argotec team."

Argotec is a privately-held company founded in 1988 and the world's leading manufacturer of optical TPU film for security glass lamination (ArgoBond(TM)) and paint protection film for the automotive aftermarket (ArgoGuard(TM)). Additional Argotec products include ArgoMed(TM) films for use in medical textiles and wound care applications, ArgoFlex(TM) textile lamination films, ArgoGraph(TM) films for advertising, sign and transportation graphics, and ArgoThane(TM) specialty films for a wide variety of other critical applications where vinyl will not perform.

Depending on the application and manufacturing process, Argotec can produce precision films from polyurethane and other difficult-to-extrude polymers in thicknesses ranging from 0.2 - 125 mils, widths up to 86 inches, and lengths up to 1,000 unspliced yards. In addition to flat-die, cast-on-carrier, and blown-film extrusion technologies, the company also has expertise in extrusion coating and multi-layer constructions.
