Press release date: February 2, 2011

Key decision factor was Apriso's ability to deliver the necessary visibility, control and synchronization to incorporate advanced materials and lean concepts into manufacturing processes

LONG BEACH, CA - Apriso, a leading provider of software solutions for sustained manufacturing operational excellence, today announced that Bombardier Aerospace, a world-leading manufacturer of innovative transportation solutions, will implement Apriso's FlexNet software as an enterprise Manufacturing Execution System (MES). Bombardier will use their Apriso solution for product traceability across the CSeries* aircraft lifecycle, retaining as-built data from processes and materials used across design and build activities.

Apriso's solution was chosen to provide Bombardier with real-time visibility, control and synchronization of the processes and materials used across their manufacturing operations for the new CSeries aircraft, which will include composite materials. Real-time visibility and control is expected to enhance the company's agility when responding to evolving business processes for the production of this new family of commercial aircraft. By easing the synchronization of material flows with new processes, it is possible to achieve even higher quality, reduced costs and an accelerated timeframe to bring these new aircraft designs to global markets.

"The aircraft industry is in the midst of a transformation in the materials and processes used to manufacture aircraft. The CSeries family of aircraft combines advanced materials, leading-edge technology and proven methods to meet commercial airline needs. As a result, we will deliver aircraft with significantly reduced operating costs and with the lowest fuel consumption, noise and emissions in the 100- to 149-seat class," said John Marten, Director, Information Technologies, Bombardier Aerospace. "We are excited to work with Apriso and will be able to leverage their experience in providing the manufacturing flexibility required to support our dynamic manufacturing models."

Apriso's FlexNet will be integrated into Bombardier's existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, linking their design, administrative and manufacturing operations while supporting continuous process improvement and engineering change orders.

"Manufacturers facing critical strategic junctures tend to rely on Apriso and our partners to deliver enterprise manufacturing solutions that are easily adaptable during times of transition," stated Jim Henderson, president and CEO of Apriso. "We recognize the trust Bombardier has placed in us to deliver products and services that meet their expectations. This trust forms the basis of the long-term relationships we continue to nurture with our customers."
