Appro XtremeServer(TM) 1512H based on Quad-Core AMD Opteron(TM) processors maximizes business productivity and cost efficiency

MILPITAS, Calif., Sept. 17 / / -- Appro (http://www.appro.com/), a leading provider of high-performance enterprise computing systems, announces the launch of its new general purpose Appro 1U XtremeServer(TM) 1512H designed for small business and low-cost high performance computing users who want to maximize their business productivity and protect their technology investment.

The new 1U XtremeServer 1512H offers one Dual- or Quad-Core AMD Opteron 2000 Series processor, 1.5TB hot-swap SATA HDDs and one PCI-Express x16 slot supporting 32GB of memory. The server combines quality with either the industry-leading dual-core processing capability of the Second-Generation AMD Opteron processor, or the industry-defining native Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor. This server represents advancement in memory, power and I/O technologies, delivering a validated optimized platform that meets the demands of today's small high performance computing users.

The Appro 1U XtremeServer 1512H is ideal for customers who need an entry level single processor server product as a viable building block for HPC clusters and applications. This general purpose server offers great performance with outstanding system memory capability, a combination which allows customers to build high performance computing clusters at very attractive prices.

"The HPC server and cluster market continues to grow at high rates, and many users are moving to larger memory size and higher processor counts to support their growing application requirements", said Earl Joseph, IDC Program Vice President. "The Appro 1U XtremeServer 1512H is an example of new servers that are designed to provide a higher level of computational density that enables customers to scale out small to medium sized clusters with a focus on price/performance, reducing power consumption and improving productivity."

"Appro XtremeServer 1512H is the latest addition to our HPC-focused portfolio of products," said John Lee, VP of Advanced Technology for Appro. "This single socket server is unique in the market today, setting the standards for memory-dense server platforms for HPC systems with the demands of multi-core computing."

"This latest offering from Appro represents the tremendous customer benefits made possible by AMD's common core strategy and same socket technology," said Pat Patla, Director, Product Management & Business Development, Server/Workstation Division, AMD (NYSE:AMD). "Appro's XtremeServer 1512H offers customers the option of industry-leading dual-core performance or the advanced performance and performance per watt capabilities of native Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors, all within the same infrastructure and power requirements - helping customers maximize their infrastructure investments."
