Press release date: July 19, 2011

CLEVELAND, OH (July 19, 2011) - Applied Industrial Technologies (NYSE:AIT) has received two prestigious awards from Eastman Chemical Company as part of their Eastman Supplier Excellence Program (ESEP) for 2010. The Eastman Supplier Excellence Award signifies consistent performance in furnishing Eastman with high quality materials and on-time shipping performance, while working on Eastman's behalf to improve efficiency and competitiveness in today's market.

The Eastman Innovation Award recognizes that AppliedŽ has made other value-added contributions, such as assisting numerous customers throughout the facility with value-added projects and helping to proactively manage inventory levels for optimum efficiency.

"Less than one-tenth of one percent of Eastman's suppliers qualifies for an ESEP award," explained Debbie Davis Waltermire, Director of Global Indirect Procurement and Supply Chain for Eastman. "Applied is one of only three suppliers to win the Innovation Award and the only company to win both the Supplier Excellence and Innovation Awards for 2010."

"Eastman Chemical is a valued customer that allows us to work closely with several departments throughout their organization, which gives us the opportunity to be successful in helping them reduce costs," said Tom Armold, Vice President - Marketing and Strategic Accounts for Applied. "Our Kingsport, TN location is proud of this service achievement because it represents a year of firsts with Eastman - our first-time partnership with them and our first time receiving their recognition awards. We look forward to even stronger team building and cooperation between our companies."
