Anritsu 32G BERT Part of Semtech Demonstration of Linear Driver Implementations for QPSK and QAM-Based Applications

Semtech Using Anritsu MP1800A to Showcase Industry-first Technology at OFC/NFOEC -

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Anritsu Company (booth #2519) announces that its MP1800A BERT is part of a demonstration of next-generation semiconductor technology in the Semtech Corporation booth (#1063) at OFC/NFOEC, Anaheim, CA. Semtech, a leading supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, is conducting Linear Modulator Driver technology specifically implemented for driving Mach Zehnder Modulators in next-generation  100G/200G/400G transport systems requiring advanced modulation formats using a low jitter 32 Gb/s PAM4 input source generated by Anritsu's MP1800A.

"Semtech is dedicated to providing proprietary solutions and breakthrough technology in a variety of market applications, including high-performance optical transport equipment (SerDes). Our demonstration at OFC/NFOEC highlights our commitment to next-generation products, and requires the precision and overall high-performance of the Anritsu MP1800A," said Matt Pope, Vice President of Optical Product Line.

The MP1800A was selected by Semtech for the demonstration because it integrates synchronized multi-channel pulse pattern generators (PPG) with up to eight channels, with independent skew control of 2mUI setting resolution.

"Anritsu has developed the MP1800A to address the stringent requirements of testing emerging designs. Its ability to generate the highest quality waveforms with fast Tr/Tf and low intrinsic jitter is helping highlight the performance of Semtech's new SiGe technology at OFC/NFOEC," said Peter Alexander, PhD, Assistant General Manager, Americas Sales Region.

An expandable plug-in modular BERT, the MP1800A features a built-in pulse pattern generator (PPG) supporting output of high-quality, high-amplitude signals; built-in error detector (ED) with high input sensitivity supporting signal analysis, such as Bathtub Jitter and Eye Diagram Measurements; and jitter modulation source for generating various jitters, such as SJ/RJ/BUJ/SSC, and supporting jitter tolerance tests. It supports synchronized 8-channel BER test with wideband bit rates from 0.1 to 32.1 Gbit/s for versatile signal integrity analysis applications up to 32 Gbit/s, such as 100GbE, OTU4, 32G DP-QPSK, CEI-28G, 32G FC, and InfiniBand EDR.
