MONTREAL, June 4, 2007-TECSYS Inc. (TSX: TCS), an industry-leading supply chain management software company announced today that Terrace Supply Company, a distributor of welding equipment and supplies from Villa Park, Illinois has selected TECSYS/TrackAbout's industry-specific solution to move away from its internally-developed applications and achieve substantial improvements in service to its clients.
Founded in 1947 as Elmhurst Welding Supply, the Company began its business selling compressed gases and welding supplies to the Elmhurst, Illinois area. In 1953, the company moved to Villa Park, Illinois and changed its name to Terrace Supply Company. In 1977, the company built its current 18,000 square-foot showroom, gas fill plant and warehouse. In the next ten years, the company's customer base grew, and a third location was opened in Schaumburg, Illinois to support its growth and better service its customers. Today, Terrace provides high-quality products and customer service to the northern part of Illinois, offering such brands as 3M, DuPont, DeWalt, WeldCraft, Thermal Dynamics and several others for such products as abrasives, chemicals, hand and power tools, and welding equipment and supplies.
Prior to selecting TECSYS, Terrace Supply had an internally-developed application that was batch-oriented, had no relational database management technology and was very weak in distribution functionality. The system did not provide for access to data in real-time. In essence, management and customer service personnel's access to vital business information was very limited and delayed by at least 24 hours, making it an ineffective customer service tool.
