Package Development Centers in the Americas, Europe and Asia Support Color Development, Masterbatch Formulation, Testing

Tarrytown, NY, June 15, 2006 - Ampacet, a leading masterbatch supplier, has completed its global network of technical support laboratories to serve those who make blow or injection molded and other forms of rigid packaging. These packaging development centers, which are located in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia, provide regional color development, masterbatch formulation, molding and testing of sample packaging, color trend projections, and troubleshooting services.

In the U.S., Ampacet operates a pilot molding and color development facility in Heath, Ohio, for rigid package development and troubleshooting. It also has a technical center in Terre Haute, Ind., for much of its research on new materials.

In Latin America, it has molding and color development facilities in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Queretaro, Mexico, as well as a color development location in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It also has fully configured molding and color development sites in Busto Garolfo (Milan), Italy, and Rayong, Thailand.

The Heath, Buenos Aires, Queretaro, Busto Garolfo and Rayong facilities have pilot blow molding machines for creating sample bottles for color evaluation. The machine at Heath, Ohio, can make tri-layer bottles. Tri-layer machines will be added at the Queretaro and Rayong sites.

All Ampacet package development centers follow the same procedures and protocols, so color formulas defined at one site can be transferred across regions without problem. This gives multinational packagers the color consistency they need anywhere in the world for their rigid packaging.

The company has "increasingly taken on rigid packaging projects for global companies that need to meet global color standards," says Mike Gaudio, Sr. Director, Strategy & Development. "Our packaging development centers allow us to standardize formulations worldwide and give customers the regional color and additive support they need. We also provide color trending services based on global and regional social and economic trends.

"These centers are geared to improve speed to market for international and local projects. This global technical network is a key part of our strategic expansion into rigid packaging, which is also reflected by our recent acquisitions and plant expansions worldwide."
