Cincinnati, OH (August 11, 2005) -Ampac Packaging, LLC, a diversified flexible packaging company, announces the formation of Ampac Flexibles. This combines the recently acquired Kapak Corp. (Minneapolis) and Flexicon, Inc. (Chicago) along with Ampac's existing Performance Films group (Cincinnati). Going forward, both Kapak and Flexicon will operate under Ampac Flexibles - Converted Products and the company's existing Performance Films group will operate as Ampac Flexibles - Performance Films. By assembling all of these product lines under one business unit, we are bringing our customers more flexible packaging solutions than ever before. Ampac Flexibles is headed by George Thomas, vice president of business development, Ampac Packaging LLC. Ampac Flexibles-Converted Products is the leading manufacturer and innovator in stand-up pouches, high-end performance flexible packaging materials and rollstock for the food, beverage, medical, pharmaceutical, agricultural and chemical, industrial, health and beauty aids markets. It is also known for its technologically advanced, custom-engineered structures, including adhesive laminations, Flexi-Free(TM) solventless laminations and heat-seal coated rollstock. Production expertise includes graphic art and plate making, customized ink blending, up to 10-color flexographic and rotogravure printing, and the capability of adding a wide variety of unique features (such as closures, fitments, spouts, etc.) to help customers achieve a competitive advantage. Additionally, Ampac Flexibles-Performance Films provides more than 200 custom and proprietary film blends designed to meet its customers' specialty film packaging requirements. Capabilities include monolayer and multilayer (up to nine-layer) coextruded films. This includes Ampac's combined effort with The Dow Chemical Company to develop and produce multilayer, high-barrier coextruded films containing Saran® resins for a variety of moisture-sensitive applications.
