Press release date: October 1, 2006

FRANKFORT, KY (October 1, 2006) - AWP Industries, Inc. will be showcasing new designs for returnable rack systems at ProMat 2007. The Engineers of American Bulk Containers (ABC), one of three business units that encompass AWP Industries, Inc., have developed the Automotive Crossmember Rack and the Automotive Siderail Rack.

The Automotive Crossmember Rack was developed to accommodate six different, but similar, parts. A team of Engineers worked together to create a rack design that would maximize space, while meeting logistical trucking requirements. They did so using data and technology to create 3D CAD designs. The part specifications were gathered and a design to overlay the six different parts with one another was developed.

Much like the Automotive Crossmember Rack, the Automotive Siderail Rack was also created in 3D CAD design. ABC provided the customer with a virtual prototype that was both effective and cost conscience. Testing was executed on the virtual prototype, including testing the operation of the restraining gate and trying different latching methods for the best possible performance. By utilizing a virtual prototype, cost savings were achieved. This method provided a means to experiment with different concepts, before even the first piece of metal was ever cut.

AWP Industries, Inc. has the ability to design, virtually develop and produce a variety of returnable rack configurations. American Bulk Containers and American Wire Products will be showcasing these and other products at ProMat 2007 in Chicago. Come see us at booth number 1061.
