Press release date: January 15, 2013

Torrance, Calif. - Altus Positioning Systems today announced that its German representative, Josef Attenberger GmbH, has won a major tender to supply 58 APS-3M survey receivers to the Baden-Württemberg Geoinformation and Land Development office (LGL).

The new order for 58 units follows on the 121 receivers previously delivered under a contract awarded by LGL to Josef Attenberger GmbH in 2011. The APS-3Ms are being used by LGL surveyors primarily as control for monitoring and verifying agricultural production under the European Union Integrated Administration and Control System (InVeKoS) program, as well as rearrangement of vineyard areas and other daily surveying applications. The receivers are integrated with LGL's in-house GISELa-Mobil software.

The APS-3M receivers are fully approved for local InVeKoS control by the German certification authority TÜV-SÜD to meet the EU regulations.

"LGL's decision to make a second large purchase of Altus receivers was based on the excellent performance of the APS-3M products during daily use over the last two years," said Christoph Attenberger, president of Josef Attenberger GmbH. "The Altus receivers provide a highly competitive value proposition in terms of their price-performance ratio, the inherent quality of the instruments and their ease of use."

Neil Vancans, president and CEO of Altus Positioning Systems, commented, "Our valued sales and service partnership in Josef Attenberger GmbH was instrumental in winning this important order. A major reason is the outstanding technical support they provide for our products. As the European service center for Altus, they provide firmware updates, maintenance and service."

Attenberger noted that the APS-3M's integrated modem provides a high degree of flexibility to sustain continuous RTK operations. The modem can connect via GSM or NTRIP to the German SAPOS correction data service. In case of a capacity overload on the NTRIP net, the surveyors can easily switch to the GSM direct dial-in connection and continue to maintain a steady data stream.

"Over the past year, the Altus APS-3M receivers have logged more than 800,000 minutes of connection to the SAPOS network," he said. "One-third of all correction data has been received via GSM connections. Many other GNSS receivers do not offer this option."
