New Freezer Design Enables Faster Start-Up with Minimal Upfront Cost

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. -- Air Products (NYSE: APD) will feature its Freshline® QS tunnel freezer--the newest addition to its portfolio of Freshline® solutions for food cooling, chilling, freezing and packaging applications--at this year's Process Expo in Chicago, Ill., from November 1-4. The QS tunnel freezer is both economical and easy-to-operate, making it an ideal option for smaller volume food processors and start-up food manufacturers who want to quickly begin freezing a high quality product with minimal upfront cost. The new freezer is also a practical solution for food processors who want to upgrade to continuous freezing, alleviate a bottleneck in their operation, or grow and diversify their existing product line.

In addition to the QS tunnel freezer, Air Products will highlight its other innovative Freshline solutions for manufacturers of meat and poultry, seafood, fruits and vegetables, pasta, dairy products, baked goods, sauces and prepared meals. These include the Freshline liquid nitrogen injection solution, a specially designed cooling system that can be retrofitted to new or existing mixers, grinders, blenders, pumps or extruders for fast, consistent and repeatable cooling using liquid nitrogen; the Freshline DM tunnel freezer, a highly flexible cryogenic freezing tunnel that allows manufacturers to process both IQF (individually quick frozen) and flat or tray products in a single machine; and the Freshline continuous sauce chiller, a system that uses the ultra-low temperature of liquid nitrogen to cool and chill many types of liquids and semi-liquids, such as sauces, gravies, marinades, broths, purees and prepared meal ingredients.

Air Products has been providing the food industry with solutions for freezing, chilling, coating, mixing, forming, packaging and wastewater treatment for more than 40 years. The company has Freshline solutions for every size customer, from large manufacturers with multiple product lines to small food processors with a niche product. With state-of-the-art, fully-equipped food laboratories in the U.S., Europe and Asia, Air Products can test a customer's product to determine the feasibility of using cryogenics for their specific process.
