Agilent Technologies' General Manager to Discuss Future of WiMAX at Global WiMAX Summit 2006

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 23, 2006 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that Gail Heck-Sweeney, general manager of its China Communications Operation (CCO), will be a featured speaker at this year's Global WiMAX Summit, presenting her view of the future of WiMAX. BII, in cooperation with the WiMAX Forum, is hosting the event, scheduled for Oct. 23 - 26 in Beijing, China.

WiMAX is currently riding a wave of achievement, spurred by recent developments in worldwide spectrum allocation and standardization, product announcements and ongoing research and development. China, given its immense population and area, represents one of the largest markets for WiMAX.

In her presentation, "WiMAX: Moving beyond the mobile," Heck-Sweeney points to the increasing globalization of WiMAX technology, especially in developing countries like China, as an indication of the technologies far-reaching appeal. To date, there are more than 117 WiMAX networks worldwide, with more than 200 operators planning WiMAX deployments. Commercial services over fixed WiMAX networks are now available in a number of countries. According to Heck-Sweeney, the real success of WiMAX will be driven in large part by the emerging 802.16e mobile market. Heck-Sweeney will present the drivers for this market, as well as a look into the future of WiMAX -- which is expected to include connectivity between devices, to information and entertainment, and between people.

"Through our successful rollout of test and measurement tools for WiMAX in the Asia region, and participation in various industry organizations and events like the Global WiMAX Summit, we continue to assert our leadership and ongoing commitment to enabling the emergence of WiMAX as a truly global technology," said Guy Sene, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Signal Analysis Division. "That leadership has been demonstrated time and again by the introduction of innovative solutions for this market. We were first to provide standard-compliant 802.16 design and test tools for fixed and mobile WiMAX applications, and the first to enable RF and baseband engineers working at the 802.16-2004 PHY layer to create, analyze and troubleshoot signals. More recently, we extended our solutions into manufacturing. This leadership is helping to ensure that today's engineers have the tools they need to create the next-generation of communication based on WiMAX."

Agilent offers a range of WiMAX test and measurement solutions that span the entire WiMAX lifecycle -- from R&D and design verification to manufacturing, conformance and interoperability test. Thanks to their reliability, repeatability and consistency, these solutions provide engineers with a level of performance and functionality not currently available with competing solutions.
