Agilent Technologies Endorsed by Quantum Data for HDMI 1.3 Testing

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 2, 2007

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced Quantum Data's endorsement of Agilent's HDMI 1.3 compliance test software. Quantum Data invents test equipment used to identify and help solve interoperability problems between audio/visual products.

"Designing our new 882E-series video test instrument would have been next to impossible without Agilent's Infiniium oscilloscope with HDMI 1.3 compliance software," said Mark Stockfisch, vice president and CTO of Quantum Data. "Our new instruments support HDMI v1.3 bit rates, which are 50-percent faster than anything we've offered before.

"Like Agilent's customers, our customers have come to expect superior-quality, undistorted reference signals from our products. Only with Agilent's 12-gig bandwidth, low noise floor and quality fixturing were we able to clearly see the effect our design changes were having on waveform quality. As we iterated our design, we were able to log our progress toward perfection with the Infiniium's Web interface, which provided a concise statement of results over our in-house network -- and we didn't have to install drivers on our PC to make this work. We'd simply browse to the instrument to see the results. During the compliance-testing phase, the canned HDMI applications were a major timesaver. These were very responsive and had a short learning curve."

The Agilent N5399A HDMI electrical performance validation and compliance software for the company's Infiniium 54850 and 80000 Series oscilloscopes provides a fast and easy way to verify and debug HDMI designs for set-top boxes, digital video recorders, DVD players and motherboard systems.

The HDMI electrical test software allows users to automatically execute HDMI electrical checklist tests and display results in a flexible report format. In addition to the measurement data, the report provides a margin analysis that shows how close a device's performance is relative to the pass/fail criteria for each test.
