Agenda Now Available for November 22 Meeting of Nuclear Energy Standards Coordination Collaborative

New York - The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) have released the agenda for the November 22 meeting of the Nuclear Energy Standards Coordination Collaborative (NESCC). All stakeholders are invited to register, including members of standards developing organizations, consortia and other forums, industry, government, and consumers.

NESCC is a joint initiative formed to identify and respond to the current needs of the nuclear industry. The activity provides a cross-stakeholder forum to facilitate and coordinate the timely identification, development, and revision of standards for the design, operation, development, licensing, and deployment of nuclear power plants. Standards for other nuclear technologies, including advanced reactor concepts, are also addressed.

Highlights of the November 22 meeting agenda include the following:

Representatives of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will present updates on advanced manufacturing and small modular reactors

Ernest Lever, senior institute engineer at the Gas Technology Institute will discuss the use of polyethylene pipe systems in the gas industry

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) will offer a status report on its Nuclear Concrete Inspection and Training Program

The Nuclear Energy Institute's (NEI) Gordon Clefton and ASTM International's Joe Koury will highlight relevant work underway within their respective organizations

Representatives from NIST and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will lead a discussion of task group reports on concrete, polymeric piping, and standards database initiatives

The meeting will take place on Monday, November 22, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. at NIST headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD. Attendance is open to all stakeholders and free of charge, but advance registration is required by November 15 for both in-person and teleconference participants.
