Aerospace Suppliers March To The Hill
Arlington, VA - Aerospace suppliers are visiting members of Congress tomorrow on a number of important business and policy issues including a provision in the fiscal year 2008 Small Business bill on eligibility requirements for Small and Small Disadvantaged Business programs.
Members of AIA's Supplier Management Council are urging lawmakers to raise the SDB personal net worth limitation to $1.5 million from $750,000. They are also asking that the figure be adjusted annually to allow for inflation and to eliminate personal financial resources such as retirement savings from the net worth calculation.
"Passage of this provision will help thousands of small businesses across the country remain competitive," said Vickie Wessel, president of Spirit Electronics located in Phoenix, Ariz. "The net worth figure has not been changed for twenty years and needs to catch up with the realities of our economy."
Other issues that members of the SMC are addressing in their annual March to the Hill include passage of the Association Health Plan legislation, permanent renewal of the R&D tax credit, modernization of the export control system and development of the Next Generation Air Transportation System.
