Adept Ships First Units of High Speed Adept Quattro s650HS Robots Bound for Primary Food Handling Systems

Pleasanton, Calif. - Adept Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADEP), a leading provider of intelligent vision-guided robotics and global robotics services, today announced it has shipped the first of its USDA-accepted robots. The Adept Quattro s650HS is the industry's only USDA-accepted parallel robot available for meat and poultry processing. The robot systems are currently bound for multiple primary food handling applications requiring high speed hgienic handling.

"This shipment is significant because the world's fastest robot now meets the strictest cleanliness and hygienic standards, which gives food processors and packagers a powerful competitive advantage," said Rush LaSelle, director of global sales and marketing for Adept Technology, Inc. "The robot's speed, precision and USDA acceptance make it the perfect choice for food handling applications."

The Quattro robot is specifically designed for high-speed manufacturing, packaging, material handling, and assembly applications. The design of the Quattro differs from conventional parallel robots in that it features a four-arm kinematic. This unique design enables higher speeds, faster accelerations, and exceptional performance across the entire work envelope. Powerful compact controls and embedded amplifiers make installation easy while reducing workspace requirements. The Quattro is now also available with a new fixed platform option for more flexibility with higher payload products. The flexibility of the Quattro robot's design combined with the USDA acceptance makes it the ideal robot choice for high speed primary food handling.
