Elmhurst, Illinois -- Adams Magnetic Products Co. has named Alan Ji as a magnetics engineer for the company's national operations including flexible magnets, sintered and bonded magnets, magnet assemblies and devices, ferrite cores, and other magnetic materials.

Ji reports to Adams' general manager Kerry Buntrock and supports the sales and engineering teams by answering customers' technical questions and assisting customers' magnetic products design and development. Among his responsibilities, Ji calculates pull force and flux density for magnet assemblies, archives and creates technical drawings, analyzes specifications and test data, prepares EMI reports, and assists in developing new magnetic assemblies through a powerful 3D simulation method. He also is researching materials and methods to enhance quality and increase production at Adams' Illinois, Kentucky and California facilities.

Prior to joining Adams, Ji worked as a magnetics applications engineer providing technical support and product quality control with Yunsheng Magnetics in San Francisco. During his 16-year career, he has served in magnetics research and development roles at Tuson Corp. in Vernon Hills, Ill.; and at Merry Magnetics Co, Ltd., and Wuxian Mag-tech Component Factory in China. After earning a bachelor's in physics from Lanzhou University in China, Ji continued his studies earning a master's in magnetics engineering from Central Iron & Steel Research Institute, and a Ph.D. from the National Lab of Condensed Material Science and Physics Department of Nanjing University. He went on to serve as an assistant professor at Nanjing Normal University lecturing on solid-state physics, nuclear magnetic resonance and magnetics measuring and testing techniques.

He holds current memberships with of the Scientific Research Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' Magnetics Society.
