Press release date: December 1, 2009
AZUSA, Calif. - Acme Portable Machines, Inc., a leading provider of rugged portable platforms and industrial rackmount LCD keyboard drawers, today announced that SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 features are now available on its rugged Intel® Core(TM) i7 EMP portable platforms. With the fast SATA 6 Gb/s transfer speed combined with the powerful Intel® Core(TM) i7 processor, the Acme EMP series delivers maximum performance for multitasking applications such as geospatial information, EDA/CAD, digital/multimedia creation, and other CPU intensive applications.
The Acme EMP series sets a new standard in high-performance computing by integrating the latest data transfer technologies. USB 3.0 ports provide 10 times the speed (5Gbps) compared with USB 2.0 (480Mbps). The latest generation of high-speed storage interfaces, the new SATA 3.0 standard doubles hard disk drive performance with an amazing 6Gb/s transfer rate. And with a RAID 0 configuration the data transfer speed can reach 4 times that of SATA 2.0's 3Gbps.
Support for i7 processors, SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0 is offered on Acme's EMP370 and EMP390 models. Much more than traditional portable computers, the EMP370 and EMP390 powerhouses boast an aluminum alloy housing and steel chassis big enough for a regular ATX or extended ATX desktop motherboard, DDR3 memory, up to sixteen 2.5" hard disk drive bays, space for a slot loading optical drive, up to 1250W power supply, dual cooling fans, space for up to seven full-length mixed PCI or PCI-e application-specific add-on boards, and a detachable 105-key keyboard/touchpad in a variety of languages. Built-in, amplified stereo speakers are included to support those presentations.
In addition, the EMP390 comes standard with a 20-inch, 4:3 LCD displaying 1600x1200 resolution. The more compact EMP370 is integrated with a 17-inch, 1280x1024 resolution LCD with optional 1920x1200 resolution upgrade. Both displays are protected by a tempered anti-glare glass. Optional resistive or capacitive touchscreen and sunlight readable, and weatherized displays also are available to meet your specific applications.
The EMP product family is designed to meet various harsh environments and for easy customization. Each product has been designed to comply with Mil-Std 810F for shock and vibration compliance. Physically, the EMP370 measures 16.65"W x 13.58"H x 9.05"D and the EMP390 is 20"W x 15.2"H x 9.84"D.
