AccuRounds Breaks Ground on Manufacturing Plant Expansion
AccuRounds is proud to announce the 18,000 square foot addition to its facility in Avon, MA. The expansion will encompass new manufacturing and office space. With the expanded facility, AccuRounds will increase its precision machining capacity to meet growing customer demand. The company employs close to 70 people and plans to double its revenue and increase employment by 50 percent over the next five years. Construction is scheduled to be completed in Spring of 2014.
AccuRounds has been a long standing leader in Lean Manufacturing practices, and the new space will incorporate lean principles. As part of the pre-planning process, members from Dacon Corporation, the construction management firm, and AccuRounds came together to participate in a unique creative process known as 3P (Production Preparation Process). During this process, they addressed the flow of people, materials, information, production and supplies to determine the best possible layout with the ultimate goal of eliminating inefficiency and waste. This will result in providing the customer with a superior product at a competitive cost.

The project is being funded with a bond facilitated by Mass Development. “We’re thrilled to provide access to this low-cost financing for AccuRounds to expand in Avon,” said MassDevelopment President and CEO Marty Jones. “The company exemplifies the Commonwealth’s vibrant manufacturing sector and has promoted the industry through the Massachusetts Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative and at the state’s first Advanced Manufacturing Summit last June.”
A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held to kick off the start of construction. Town and state officials and business leaders were in attendance.
