Press release date: October 29, 2007
Reading, UK, October 29, 2007 - Access Keyboard Ltd, the Reading (UK) based designer and manufacturer of custom keyboards and data interface solutions, has changed its name to reflect the broad range of devices that the company now produces and markets. From October 29, 2007 the company name is to be Access IS, an abbreviation of Access Interfacing Solutions. The ownership and management of the business are unaffected.
Commenting on the change, founder and managing director, Roger Wylie, said, "Whilst the company was originally built upon the standard and custom keyboards business, much of the four-fold increase in revenue over the past three years has come from the manufacture of a broader range of data capture devices. Our product family now includes optical character readers, biometric passport readers, airport boarding gate readers, magnetic swipe card readers and bar code readers, including the latest technology for reading two-dimensional bar codes from the screens of mobile phones and other hand-held electronic devices. The new name reflects more accurately the diversity of our products today, and our ability to provide technical solutions to most kinds of data capture and interfacing tasks."
Access IS designs, manufactures and supports its products from its headquarters in Reading. The company opened a US office in Atlanta, Georgia last year to support its global expansion within the airports business.
Recent examples of the company's success include winning a £500,000 contract to supply all of the boarding gate readers for Heathrow's Terminal 5, a contract to supply 7,500 retail banking keyboards to Barclays Bank and 1,000 retail point of sale keyboards to Harrods.
The change of company name to Access IS is accompanied by a new logo and a re-launched website at www.access-is.com. The company address and telephone number remain unchanged.
