Abutec Announces Emission Testing Results (99.9%DRE)

Kennesaw-ABUTEC is pleased to announce the completion of industry leading emission testing on the ABUTEC Enclosed Combustor, model MTF 2.7, capable of combusting 100 mcfd (69 scfm) of 2400 btu/ft3 vapors. The MTF 2.7 Enclosed Combustor achieved an outstanding 99.9% Destruction Efficiency throughout the entire range of operation. The test was conducted in accordance with EPA 60.18 and the unit was tested at 30%, 50%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% load capacities. The goal was to determine the combustor DRE% efficiency and TCEQ/EPA 40 CFR 60.18 compliance (no flame impingement) while preliminarily testing the results in accordance with pending regulation 40 CFR 60, Subpart OOOO. TheMTF 2.7 Enclosed Combustor is installed at over 1,000 storage tanks throughout the United States Oil& Gas market.

40 CFR 60, Subpart OOOO Compliance
ABUTEC will conduct additional testing on all the Enclosed Combustor models once pending 40 CFR 60, Subpart OOOO is registered and final testing criteria is documented. Currently, the following models are tested in accordance with current regulations: HTF 24.0, HTF 11.5, HTF 6.5, and MTF 2.7. EPAMethod 1- Sample and velocity traverses for stationary sources was used to determine the sample location. Mass emission rates were determined stoichiometrically according to EPA Method 19. ASTM D 6348-03- Determination of Gaseous Compounds by Extractive Direct Interface Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy was also applied.

The instrumental sample system is used to collect samples for the determination of NOx, CO, THC, and O 2 concentrations. A stainless steel sample probe is used to extract exhaust gas samples continuously throughout each test run. Sample gas enters a sample probe and continues into a stainless steel electronically actuated solenoid 3-way valve. The 3-way valve is used to perform leak checks and sample system bias checks. From the valve, the gas flows through a 3/8" Teflon® heat traced sample line to the mobile analysis unit via a Teflon-lined diaphragm pump for hydrocarbon analysis on a wet basis. The gas is then dried in a stainless steel minimum contact condenser. From the condenser, a 3/8" Teflon sample line brings the exhaust gas to a manifold in the mobile analysis unit. A manifold partitions the gas through quick-connects so that each instrument can directly sample exhaust gas. Each instrument is equipped with a rotameter to maintain correct sample pressure and flow rate. Each instrument is connected to an analog to digital USB converter and connected to a computer to document its response during calibration, quality assurance, and testing. Figure 4-1 provides an instrumental sample system diagram.
