Press release date: October 10, 2008

Abtex Corporation has increased the maximum part length that its double-head, flow-through, short part deburring system can deburr. In response to customer requests and reported application requirements, this popular system can now deburr parts ranging in length from 1 inch to 7.5 inches. The maximum length had been 4.5 inches.

With one pass, the new machine simultaneously deburrs both ends of an extrusion. Each of the four 12 or 14 inch Abtex disc brushes is driven by a powerful three horsepower motor. The brush motors are mounted on tool slides for precise alignment of the brushes to the ends of the parts. A variable speed, manually-fed conveyor system allows for deburring rates of up to 1,200 parts per hour.

The flow-thru deburring system is engineered for precise control of part penetration into the brush face. Abtex fiber abrasive brushes' flexible, multi-directional wiping action deburrs extrusions quicker and more completely than other systems. The abrasive action is concentrated on the ends of the extrusion, minimizing any effect on the lateral surface.

The new machine is as simple in design and as durable in construction as previous models. The expanded capacity provides fabricators who specialize in high volumes of short length parts with tremendous productions efficiencies.
